Appliance Control and Security Alert Using Infrared

Abstract

This project report describes the construction and implementation of an appliance control and security alert system using infrared which can be used in controlling various home appliances and sending an alert using the alert system. In this project, the appliances are remote controlled using an infrared remote which sends the command to the ATmega328P microcontroller which in turn communicate with the relays whether to turn on/off the appliance based on the command being sent. The microcontroller is used to control the entire system that makes the system smarter and easy to modify for other applications. The infrared receiver enables the user to control and operate loads from about 4 meters. The security alerting system is basically done by the GSM module which sends security alerts concerning emergencies to the concerned persons so as to respond to the situation.
